Why ads for Electronics & Gadgets can’t follow a template

01

Thin margins and a price race

In electronics, price differences between stores are minimal, and margins on popular models are small. If bids ignore margin, ads easily sell at break-even or at a loss.

02

Exact models and GTINs

Shoppers search for a specific model and configuration. Without correct GTINs and the brand, storage and color in the title, a product doesn't make it into price comparisons and loses the auction.

03

A long path to purchase

Expensive tech is chosen over days: people read reviews, compare specs and come back several times. If attribution and remarketing don't account for this, early-funnel campaigns look unprofitable.

04

Trust in the store

People commit to an expensive purchase where they see an official warranty, reviews, clear shipping and returns. Without these signals in the ad and on the page, a click rarely turns into an order.

Sample ad

Here’s what your ad could look like

This is just one variation. In a responsive search ad, we write up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions, and Google assembles the best combination for each search.

  • The search keyword appears in the first headline
  • A concrete benefit and offer instead of generic claims
  • A call to action that matches the goal: call, booking, directions
  • Sitelinks lead to relevant pages

Ad descriptions

We'll help you pick a laptop for school, work or gaming. Free engineer consultation.

Genuine devices with manufacturer warranty. Inspect your order on delivery.

Analytics

What we count as a result

Automated bid strategies learn from the data we feed them. That’s why we only count actions that lead to sales.

  • Purchase with value and margin
  • Installment payment application
  • Checkout started (begin_checkout)
  • Call for a consultation
  • Add to cart (add_to_cart)
  • One-click order

Demand seasonality

The strongest periods are Black Friday, holiday gifts and back-to-school, plus demand waves after new model launches. In season, prices and auction competition change daily, so we monitor price competitiveness and adjust ROAS targets.

Google Ads restrictions in this niche

Google prohibits ads for counterfeits and replicas of branded electronics, as well as devices for covertly tracking people. If the store sells refurbished or used devices, their condition must be clearly stated in the feed and on the page, or Merchant Center will disapprove those items.

FAQ

Common questions about ads for Electronics & Gadgets

Answers to the questions business owners ask most often before launch.

How do we advertise if we don't have the lowest price?

Competing on price alone is hard in electronics. We focus budget on models where your price is competitive, and for the rest we highlight other advantages: availability, fast shipping, expert advice, extended warranty or installment payments. We exclude items where you're consistently more expensive than the market.

Why do we need GTINs in the feed?

A GTIN is the manufacturer's barcode that Google uses to match your product to the exact model, show it in price comparisons and pull in reviews. Without it, products appear less often or get limited. For branded electronics, it's a basic feed quality requirement.

Is it worth advertising accessories?

Yes, but separately from the main devices. Accessories are cheaper and have different margins, so in a shared campaign they distort the ROAS target. They work best in remarketing and as post-purchase upsells.

How do you account for installment payments?

We track the installment application as a separate conversion and import confirmed purchases from the CRM as offline conversions. That way the algorithm doesn't optimize for applications the bank ultimately declined.

How do you handle a long buyer decision?

We use data-driven attribution to account for all interactions, not just the last click. Remarketing reminds people of models they viewed, and Search campaigns capture return visits with the exact product name.
